Taking KCC became easy

The Modi government has also decided to issue Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs) to all farmers benefiting from the PM Kisan Sanman Nidhi Yojana. That is, the PM-Kisan scheme has been linked to KCC. With this, loans up to Rs 3 lakh will be available at only 4%.

The country currently has about 80 million active Kisan credit cards. There are more than 2 crore beneficiaries of PM-Kisan Sanman Nidhi who do not have KCC. Since banks already have most of the information about PM-farmer beneficiaries, banks will have no problem issuing KCC to farmers.

Earlier, farmers who had taken Kisan Credit Card even if they did not want to, had to join the Crop Insurance Scheme (PMFBY). When disbursement under this scheme was started in December 2018, the scheme was only for small and marginal farmers. It included only 12 crore farmers. So its budget was fixed at Rs 75,000 crore. But before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP promised in its resolution that all 14.5 crore farmers would benefit if the Modi government came to power again. Many state governments are now considering helping themselves with the PM Kisan scheme. The Madhya Pradesh government has taken this step by giving 4-4 ​​thousand rupees per farmer.
